The Chicago Tribuneseemed to have taken a hint and reposted the story with different phrasing, actually naming Cogdell directly in a tweet.

The Tribune responded directly to the first tweet today, apologizing to the backlash.

"On Sunday, in an initial tweet and headline, we identified three-time U.S. Olympian Corey Cogdell-Unrein only as the 'wife of a Bears lineman,'" they wrote. "She's awesome on her own. We focused too hard on trying to emphasize the local connection Cogdell-Unrein has to Chicago."
This unfortunately isn't the first time a news outlet has been criticized for it's reporting on female athletes during the 2016 Olympics.
NBC came under fire for their coverage of Hungarian swimmer Katinka Hosszu when an announcer described the gold medalist's husband as the man responsible for her success.
