"Beat Saber" is a rhythm game for VR headsets, including Oculus Quest, in which players slice colored blocks with virtual light sabers in time to music. It is one of the most popular and freaking fun games on the platform, and it's about to get some upgrades.
At its AR/VR event Wednesday, Facebook announced the release of the Quest 2, as well as new features and games coming to Oculus devices. That includes multiplayer mode on "Beat Saber," coming Oct. 13 to both Quest and Rift. According to a teaser video, multiplayer mode looks like it will allow players to create their own avatars, which will then stand next to each other, all playing at once.
"Beat Saber" is also getting a new music pack and avatar characters, courtesy of BTS. It's not clear what role the BTS avatars will play, but the characters and music pack are expected to land on Oculus in November.
Though Oculus has yet to reveal specifics, it appears "Beat Saber" players will finally get to slice and dice in time to songs like "Boy in Luv." That has the group's extremely devoted fan base, known as the BTS army, excited. To say the least.

The BTS avatars come from TinyTAN, a project from the band's producer, Big Hit Entertainment. They're pretty dang cute.
Will this be the partnership that turns the K-pop stan army into Oculus gamers? Sure seems like it.
