Beyoncé is back. After bailing on her headlining spot at 2017's Coachella Valley Music and Arts Festival due to her pregnancy, Queen Bey finally had her moment. It was a big one for Coachella too: She was the first woman of color to headline the festival.
SEE ALSO: Here's why Jay-Z thinks the Trump administration is 'a great thing'In a two-hour Saturday night set filled with surprises, guest appearances by Bey's husband Jay-Z and sister Solange weren't even the highlights. That distinction belongs to Kelly Rowland and Michelle Williams, who stepped out onto the stage toward the end of the set for a full-blown Destiny's Child reunion.
The trio kicked off their three-song mini-show with their 2004 hit "Lose My Breath," following it with "Say My Name" and then "Soldier." It was their first time performing together since 2015. The crowd, and the internet, went wild.
While the reunion was the undisputed highlight of the set, it wasn't the only surprise. Jay-Z stepped out to perform "Déjà Vu," off Beyoncé's 2006 album, B'Day. Later, after the Destiny's Child reunion, Solange came out to dance with her sis during "Get Me Bodied."
While it's tough to top highs like those, the rest of Beyoncé's set whipped the Coachella crowd into a frenzy. There was the marching band-accompanied rendition of Bey's 2003 hit, "Crazy in Love." Quotes peppered throughout from Malcolm X and author Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie. A performance of "Lift Every Voice and Sing," a song often referred to as the "Black American National Anthem."
DJ Khaled might have summed it up best. Midway through the set, he announced that after Beyoncé's set was over, the festival would have to be renamed "Beychella."
