Clarence Dũng Taylor's Facebook post, liked over 5,000 times, called out United for their treatment of Dao and, translated, said, "Dr. Dao didn't do anything wrong on that flight and that's the main thing," per Reuters.
Taylor, who says he represents Vietnamese artists who frequently used United, has started a petition to boycott the airline and has around 1,200 signatures thus far.
Reuters flagged other responses of outrage from Vietnam, too.
"Watching this makes my blood boil, I'll never fly United Airlines," commented Anh Trang Khuya on Facebook, the most widely used social media platform in Vietnam.
Nguyen Khac Huy wrote: "Boycott United!!! This is excessive! Let's be loving and united, Vietnamese people!"
Commenting on the Vietnamese news website Dai Ky Nguyen, one user wrote, according to the BBC, "You cannot beat someone up then just say I'm sorry. The man is old so the airlines don't appear at all human. They are also so greedy."

JD.com CEO Richard Liu reportedly told local media, per Fortune, "I can say this [responsibly]: UA's service is absolutely the world's worst."
Gao Xiaosong, a Chinese music producer and songwriter, echoed Liu's sentiment, calling United's service "heinous."
