A few young roommates in Spokane, Washington, recently created a Craigslist ad in search of one lucky, "generic" dad who could perform some much-needed dad duties for their upcoming backyard barbecue.

- Grilling hamburgers and hotdogs (whilst drinking beer)- Bringing your own grill (though this is subject to change. We will provide all of the meat)- Refer to all attendees as "Big Guy," "Chief," "Sport," "Champ," etc. (whilst drinking beer)- Talk about dad things, like lawnmowers, building your own deck, Jimmy Buffet, etc. Funny anecdotes are highly encouraged. All whilst drinking beer.
But hold your spatulas, eager dads. Not just any so-called "dad" can fulfill this requirement. No, only highly qualified dads are in demand for this stunt. These requirements include:
- A minimum of 18 years experience as a father- A minimum of 10 years grilling experience- An appreciation of a nice, cold beer on a hot summer day
Here's a screenshot of the Craigslist ad (please note that this "Generic Father" is "NEEDED"):
The backyard celebration will take place on June 17, the day before Father's Day, and there will be about 40 people in attendance, according to a report from local Spokane TV station KHQ. That means this is no job for shy dads.
Finding a dad should be no big deal now that the listing has gone viral. It was originally posted on May 23, and it gained steam once local stations started picking up the story.
Despite an outpouring of responses from local dads, the listing's posters are now narrowing the candidate-pool criteria. Going forward, the only burger-flipper they'll consider is comedian Bill Murray, barbecue co-host Dane Anderson told The Huffington Post in an interview.
In case Murray is a no-show, there's probably still an array of dads who can meet those burger-flipping, Jimmy Buffet-summer needs. To those interested: just keep in mind that this gig isn't paid. But hey, there'll be tons of food and beer.
"We're just looking for a dad to crack a cold one open with the boys," Anderson said to KHQ-TV.
Any takers?
