If the latest Star Wars announcement tells us anything, colin farrell sex video other than that the Lucasfilm top brass like Game of Thronesas much as the rest of us do, it's that there are a lotof Star Wars movies coming up on our horizon.
So many, in fact, that it's getting kind of difficult to keep track of them all.
SEE ALSO: OMG more Star Wars movies are on the way, this time from the 'Game of Thrones' creatorsGone are the days when you could just assume each new film would fall into sequence with a tidy Roman numeral. Now, we're anticipating sequels to spinoffs many parsecs removed from the core Skywalker storyline – and no, we're not sure if we're using "parsecs" in the real-world sense or the Han Solo sense here either.
Here's a rundown of all the Star Wars films coming up in our foreseeable future.
This one you already know about, unless you've been passed out under a table for the past few days.
Solotakes place sometime before the events of the original Star Wars(a.k.a. Episode IV – A New Hope), following a young Han Solo (Alden Ehrenreich) as he befriends Chewbacca (Joonas Suotamo) and meets Lando Calrissian (Donald Glover).
Who's making it?Ron Howard took over at the helm after original directors Phil Lord and Chris Miller dropped out mid-shoot. Jon Kasdan and Lawrence Kasdan wrote the screenplay.
When's it coming?May 25, 2018.
The as-yet-untitled movie will serve as the third and final installment in the sequel trilogy, following The Force Awakensand The Last Jedi. Characters from those films will return – though not Leia, as Carrie Fisher died after shooting The Last Jedi.
Who's making it?J.J. Abrams is directing, and co-wrote the script with Chris Terrio (Argo). Previously, Colin Trevorrow had been planning to helm from a screenplay he penned with Derek Connolly.
When's it coming?December 20, 2019.
In November 2017, Disney announced that Last Jediwriter-director Rian Johnson would be on the hook for a whole newStar Wars trilogy featuring "new characters from a corner of the galaxy that Star Wars lore has never before explored." That's about it in terms of confirmed plot detail.
What we do know is that this trilogy will not be a continuation of the Skywalker saga (i.e., the narrative arc followed by all the movies that have "Episode" in the title), and that it will not center on the Old Republic.
Who's making it?Johnson will write and direct the first film in the trilogy. It's still unclear who'll make the two sequels.
When's it coming?TBD, but seeing as Johnson only just released The Last Jedi, we're gonna bet this one takes a few more years to come to fruition.
Also in November 2017, the studio also stated that a live-action TV series was in development and would debut on Disney's upcoming digital streaming service. No other details – like which talents might be involved or what the plot might be – have been unveiled so far.
But we did get an intriguing update in February 2018, when Disney CEO Bob Iger told investors that they were working on not one, but "a few" different shows. There's still no word on who's on board or what any of them about, though Iger promised they were "close" to making a reveal.
Who's making it?Unknown.
When's it coming? Also unknown – but the Disney digital platform is expected to launch in late 2018, so probably sometime around then.
Today, Disney revealed that yet another Star Wars film series was in the works, with Game of Thronescreators David Benioff and D.B. Weiss. Notably, the press release does not say how many films will be in the series. It could be two or it could be twenty.
As usual, the studio's being skimpy about details, sharing only that these films will be separate from both the Skywalker saga and the Johnson trilogy.
For what it's worth, though, Disney CEO Bob Iger said that the movies would be "focused on a point in time in the Star Wars mythology." That could be a hint about the Old Republic ... or it could just be meaningless PR talk. That's Star Wars secrecy for ya. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
Who's making it?Benioff and Weiss are only confirmed to write and produce at this point – there's no word yet on who'll direct the new films.
When's it coming? The pair plan to get started as soon as Game of ThronesSeason 8 is done, which means it'll likely be 2019 before they even start writing. Meaning we'll be well into the 2020s before the first of these hits theaters.
In addition to all these confirmed titles, there are all the rumored projects.
For instance, we still don't know what's become of the spinoff that Josh Trank was supposed to direct once upon a time – did it die when he was fired, or is it still simmering in the background somewhere? What was it supposed to be about?
A trade report last summer indicated that Stephen Daldry was up for a job directing a spinoff about Obi-Wan Kenobi – but no official announcement was ever made, and we've heard of no other upates since then.
That same story reported Lucasfilm was "considering" films about Yoda and Boba Fett, while another article from the time claimed a Jabba the Hutt film was also in development. Again, though, none of those were verified by Disney. We don't know if they're still happening, or if they ever even existed in the first place.
At any rate, though, it seems likely that Disney will start locking down some dates and details sooner rather than later. We'll keep watching to find out what's next.
