Chicago's philanthropic rapper brought an early Christmas to his home city on Monday, gifting 300 pairs of unreleased Jordan Retro 11s to a crowd of high school students.

The event coincided with the three-year anniversary of the death of Chance's mentor, Chicago poet and activist Mike Hawkins, for whom the Open Mike events are named.
At Monday's event, which featured rapper Korporate as a speaker, Chance took the Cindy Pritzker Auditorium stage, then gifted 300 pairs of $220 Jordan 11s to every single attendee — and these sneakers won't be released until Saturday, Dec. 9 at 10 a.m. ET.
