Pokémon Go's latest update included some minor tweaks and émonarecomingtoPokéHistory Archiveschanges to the popular mobile game, but dataminers also uncovered some new lines of code that suggest more second-generation Pokémon are approaching.
The Silph Road looked through thousands of lines of code Wednesday to find information about upcoming Pokémon Gocontent and stumbled on some brand new mentions of gen-two Pokémon and evolution-inducing items that make some classic gen-one Pokémon evolve into gen-two Pokémon.

In the main Pokémongames, specific Pokémon that hold these items and are traded to another player will evolve. Here's a breakdown of how the items evolve different Pokémon:
Dragon Scale:
Seadra evolves into Kingdra
King's Rock:
Poliwhirl evolves into Politoed
Slowpoke evolves into Slowking
Metal Coat:
Onix evolves into Steelix
Scyther evolves into Scizor
Sun Stone:
Gloom evolves into Bellossom
Up-Grade:
Porygon evolves into Porygon2
The code also suggests that the Pokémon called Unknown will be making an appearance in Pokémon Go.Unknown are Pokémon that are shaped like letters of the alphabet (plus two punctuation marks), and all of them from Unknown A to Unknown Z are present in the code.
Via GiphyOutside of the Unknowns, the new Pokémon possibilities fall in line with how Pokémon Gohas introduced second generation Pokémon so far, namely, in relation to current Pokémon.
The first new batch of Pokémon released in December were all the baby versions of already-present first generation Pokémon like Pichu and Togepi. Continuing to release new Pokémon that already have ties to the current roster wouldn't come as a surprise.
Via GiphyThe datamine also teases some other new features like more customization for players' avatars -- including the addition of belts, glasses and necklaces -- and 38 brand new moves to spice up your Pokémon battles. We'll have to wait on future game updates to know for sure.
