On Tuesday, William Samoei Ruto, Deputy President of Kenya, shared photographs of 5,250 illicit firearms and small weapons being set aflame in Ngong, near Nairobi.

In his Facebook post, Ruto wrote that the symbolic act was aimed at discouraging the possession of illegal weapons and ammunition that "could cause harm in society."
